| Quicklime desiccant is more suitable for low temperature storage, has good dry hygroscopic fruit, and the price is low, widely used in food, clothing, tea, leather, shoemaking, electrical appliances and other industries. |
| The main component of lime desiccant is calcium oxide (CaO), and its water absorption capacity is achieved through a chemical reaction, so water absorption is irreversible. Regardless of the humidity of the external environment, the desiccant can maintain a hygroscopic capacity greater than 35% of its own weight. It is more suitable for low temperature storage, has good dry hygroscopic fruit, and has a lower price. Can be widely used in food, clothing, tea, leather, shoemaking, electrical appliances and other industries. |
| If the desiccant still has fruit, it can be used for household food preservation or footwear drying. The lime desiccant (RAYM) is in the form of particles before absorbing moisture, but in powder form after absorbing moisture, as long as the desiccant in the bag is in the form of particles, if any, it means that it still exists. There is no change in shape of silica gel and clay, so the remaining ability cannot be confirmed. |
| Several common identification methods: |
| 1. Quicklime desiccant-it is a lump at first, and it will be scattered into powder or agglomerate after moisture absorption. Place the desiccant in water and observe whether there are exotherms and whether bubbles are generated. If the heat is still radiated or bubbles are generated, it proves that the desiccant can still be used, otherwise it is lost. |
| 2. Silica gel desiccant-itself should be colorless transparent or translucent particles. After the moisture absorption, some desiccant may appear light yellow or milky white part, but it is impossible to prove whether it is lost. The simple test method is to put water droplets on the desiccant, and then feel whether it is exothermic by hand, the exotherm is still available. (But this method is still not scientific) |
| 3. Oxygen scavenger-cannot be easily identified |
| Precautions: |
| Raw material of raw lime (CaO) reacts with water to generate heat. If you find signs of burns, please consult a doctor. If you swallow the powdered hydrated lime by mistake, just rinse your mouth. Slaked lime is non-toxic (calcium hydroxide) and can be used as a food additive substance. However, its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline and will irritate the mucous membranes, so please drink egg white or milk and consult a doctor after ingestion. |
| Dispose of it as non-combustible garbage in the home. Since the raw lime of the lime desiccant (RAYM) may come into contact with water, it may generate heat immediately. It is strictly forbidden to discard it in a place with high moisture. |
