Production method and use
Production method | Tetradecanoic acid can be obtained from mixed fatty acids or methyl esters of mixed fatty acids obtained from coconut oil and palm kernel oil by vacuum fractionation. The free tetradecanoic acid can be obtained by saponification of trisylglycerin and 10% sodium hydroxide solution and acidification with hydrochloric acid. It can also be obtained by the tetradecanol process.
Use | The bulk drug. |
