Production method and use
Production method | It is produced by reduction of anisaldehyde. Anise, formaldehyde and sodium hydroxide were reacted with Cannizzaro in ethanol to produce p-methoxybenzyl alcohol. After distillation and recovery of ethanol, the oil layer obtained from the reaction is extracted with benzene, acidified with acetic acid, neutralized with sodium bicarbonate to weakly alkaline, washed to neutral, distilled to recover benzene, and the remaining residue is distilled under vacuum to obtain p-methoxybenzyl alcohol. Used in the preparation of medicines and fragrances. Mosonidine intermediate, mainly used to prepare vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, almond, peach and other flavors.
